Ingredients you need for the Blackened Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce

3salmon fillets (6oz each)2teaspoonspaprika1teaspoononion powder1 teaspoon garlic powder1 teaspoon oregano½ teaspoon dried basil1/2 teaspoon Cayenne1teaspoonsalt1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper1 tablespoonolive oil, dividedLemon slices, for garnishThe lemon butter sauce1 stick salted butter (1/2 cup – 4oz) softened to room temperature (or ghee for paleo)2 tablespoons chopped parsley1 garlic clove, pressed or minced1 teaspoon garlic powder1 teaspoon onion powder1 teaspoon chili powder, or Cayenne1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper2 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions

1. To make the blackened salmon:Make a spice mix by mixing all of the spice ingredients together (paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, basil,Cayenne, salt, pepper, olive oil). Coat the salmon fillets with a small amount of oil. Generously sprinkle the fillets with the spice mix.

2. Add ingredients for the lemon herb butter to a bowl (butter, parsley, garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, pepper, and lemon juice), then stir with a fork to combine. Refrigerate the lemon herbed butter while you are cooking the blackened salmon.

3.In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the salmon fillets and cook for about 4-5 minutes, until crispy and blackened. Flip the salmon fillets over and cook an additional 4-6 minutes. If your salmon fillets are browning too quickly, then turn down the heat.

How to Sear Salmon

  • To sear salmon filets, start by drying room salmon filets with a paper towel.
  • Preheat a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add a tablespoon of olive oil and swirl it around the skillet.
  • Season the salmon filets with salt and pepper and place it skin side down in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes and press down on the salmon with a spatula or spoon to ensure even cooking.
  • Flip the salmon and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon filets are cooked through, crispy and golden. Serve the salmon immediately.

Tips to make Best Pan-Seared Salmon

1. Preheat the skillet: Heat a skillet on medium-high heat.

2. Add oil to the skillet and let it heat for 30 seconds.

3. Check the temperature: Use a thermometer to check the internal temperature of the salmon. The salmon should reach an internal temperature of 145°F. If not, continue to cook until it reaches this temperature.
4. Serve the salmon with your favorite sides and enjoy!
